It is believed one of the suspects ran off after the shooting before uniformed officers caught him nearby and detained him. He is being questioned by gardaí in relation to the incident. The deceased man was named locally as James Redmond. The man was identified as Seamus O’Regan of Perrand House, Tallaght. A second man, also aged, was shot in the stomach and is being treated. The dead man lived across from Tallaght Garda Station in Co Dublin and gardaí believes he was attacked in his home at around 1:20 am. The younger man lived across the road from the Co Tipperary town and was in Tallaght Hospital overnight. He is understood to be in a stable condition.

The body of a man, believed to be in his 40s and who gardaí has named as Michael Kelly, was removed from the scene in Clondalkin, South Dublin, at half-nine yesterday morning. Kelly was pronounced dead by paramedics at Tallaght Garda station. The victim had sustained gunshot wounds but it is unclear how many times he had been shot. On Monday morning, February 24th, just after 6:30 a.m., Gardaí were called to an incident at the Dublin County Retail Credit Union on Terenure Road, Tallaght. The incident took place at the rear of the Credit Union premises. An old male was shot and his injuries are described as being critical. He is currently in serious condition in Tallaght Hospital. The scene of the incident remains closed and investigations are ongoing.
